First time non-hover lawnmowerThis is the first time I’ve opted for a non-hover lawnmower as we have had the garden landscaped with the lawn portion being new turf. Another first for me was abandoning the assembly instructions, mostly, as the diagrams are too small to read clearly, hence 4 stars. That said, assembling was quite straightforward and don’t be freaked out by the initial diagrammatic explosion of the mower as you won’t need to assemble every nut and bolt! First use of the mower the front right wheel (not part of my assembling I might add) fell off! I contacted the customer services who were helpful, explaining how to prise off the wheel plastic spoke to reveal a metal clip which had come off. As instructed, I reclipped this onto the centre spoke and clipped the plastic cover back on, easy to do. Tried again and after a few mows it came off again. I contacted Customer Services who sent a new metal clip. Now fitted and working fine. Grass collection box is good and easy to empty. The mower does cut right to the edge which was one reason I bought it, as we have sleepers as boundary and didn’t want to ruin by strimming. Not as easy to store as my Flymo which easily folded the handles down but it’s a minor point. Overall happy I bought it.

Very good lawnmowerThis is the heaviest lawnmower I have ever purchased, meaning it is not as manoeuvrable as previous machines. It is sturdy, was easy to assemble and the cutting height is very easy to adjust. Having read reviews before my purchase, I didn’t think the colour of the cable would be an issue, but an orange cable is definitely easier to see than the black cable fitted to this mower.

Good lawn mower (when it’s very dry)Good little lawn mower, lightweight, adjustable height, and decent size collection box.It does struggle if the grass is longer or damp though, the motor will shut down for 5-10 minutes on a regular basis if you’ve left it a couple of weeks too long before cutting. Cable could be a bit longer too.Other than that its fine. Would still recommend it.

Design FaultReplaced with this mower after having the Flymo Easi Glide. Partly wish I had kept with a Flymo. The good points – very sturdy, cuts nice, small and compact to put away, light weight and easy to turn in a small/medium garden. It does cut quite close to the edges. The bad points – extremely bad design of how it collects the grass or NOT as in this mower. The grass has to go through a too long tube before going up into the grass box. The grass box is only ever half full and have to empty it. The grass glogs in the tube and is then thrown out onto the grass. I am constantly stopping it to pull out the grass that has blocked. No point in having the height settings as you will always require the shortest setting. This is not as short as previous mower.Overall I would not recommend as it is not what I was expecting from a company like Webb, however for the price it is sturdy built and I guess I will just have to keep unblocking the tube every so often.

Product spec above what’s outlined.Out of the box impressions, this mower over-delivers compared to the spec outlined. I wanted to let you know as these nearly had me buying a more expensive machine:- it has FIVE height levels. They’re a little stiff on first try but that’s a good thing (they won’t instantly pop out) and I’m sure will ease with use.- the trigger handle runs FULLY across the top handle – it’s not one-sided as the image suggests (like a standard petrol mower, which this replaces for me). So it can be held at any point across the top handle, making manoeuvring so much easier and intuitive without cutting out.- it has a carry handle on the base, so the mower can be lifted with ease.- the machine is (according to box) 12.8kg net weight. It doesn’t feel too light to handle a workload, but I can also lift it without stress. It seems to manoeuvre with ease. It doesn’t look or feel like ‘cheap plastic’. The blade is metalOther:- I managed to assemble the mower in around 30 minutes, taking my time. The handles have just two fixings to assemble – slot into mower base, and secure top handle with two easy bolt/knob fixings. Just add two cable ties to secure the cable from motor along the handle. The grass box just slots in after lifting flap.- The handle slotting into the top of the grass box seems to pop out quite easily – but I’ve borrowed mowers and they’re all similar. There is an integral handle on the fabric of the grass box itself s that might be the go-to for emptying.- The cable is a decent length indeed. It is Black however so visibility is lower.- it doesn’t have a ‘fold flat’ option but with cable ties in place I can still dislocate the lower handles and lay them along the length of the machine.- If you care of aesthetics, it’s a nice looking machine. It will (weather permitting) get a real run for it’s money tomorrow as I’ve had to delay first cut of the year while making a decision. I’ll update review with photos I hope. Hope this helps.

Easy to useBought to replace a hover mower and wow! What a difference! This mower is quiet and so easy to push. It makes mowing the lawn a pleasure. The mower is light enough for an elderly person to lift but needs very little lifting as it simply wheels into the storage area. The handle is comfortable to hold and the ability to keep it running with either or both hands is useful.Just a few niggles. The instructions for handle assembly don’t tell you there are definite left and right lower handles so it is easy to fit them on the wrong side and not realise until the cable clips are fitted. I had to take mine to pieces again and swap the lower handles over. Also the instructions for raising and lowering the blade could be better. It isn’t clear to a person who has never used a rotary mower which position gives the shortest or longest cut.I also find the lever stiff to use.The black cable is hard to see in long grass.Apart from those minor issues it is a very good mower for medium sized lawns that are on a very slight slope.

Reasonable value overall.I bought this to cut three smallish lawns. As the grass on each needs different heights of cut, the ability to change cutting heights quickly was important – and that’s worked out well. Every new machine can take some getting used to, and my only real concern about this one (after using it three times) is that the grass cuttings don’t appear to be collected efficiently by the grass box when it’s being mowed up or down a slight incline. Perhaps I’ll manage to resolve the problem, but if I don’t it will be a nuisance.

  8. Unicorn tears

AverageNot as good as my last mower (qualcast) it’s a lot heavier and nosier.

  9. alison walsh

easy to use and does the jobRead reviews and ordered this mower for new lawn . Arrived as stated and was easy to assemble and get going with it . Its good to use and adjust the mowing length – which was main purchase reason . No complaints – would recommend .
