Poor QualityI bought this basically because I restore old English Vice’s mainly the Record 74.It has a 12mm spindle that goes through a hole in your bench, then you tighten it up via a wing nut.The thread is 1/2 BSW and I often have to re-cut the tread as it can get full of crud.I lost my 1/2″ BSW Die so I decided to by what I thought was a good make there are other smaller boltsthat are also BSW.I put the die in the handle, and the 1st thing I noticed was unlike other good makes instead of gub bolts with a pointed head, they had used very cheap basic self tappers!! so of course these will not go into a metal hole!I therefor could not screw the middle one in far enough to open the die up via the slit.It started off ok and then there was a bit on the shaft that was worn. It started to cut a thread and I was doing 2 turns and 1 reverse which is what I was always taught when I took my engineering qualifications. I was also taught how to “Feel” the cut and what to look out for. I am a slight man who recently broke both arms, so have the strength of a 14 year old. I just felt it give and that was it. I broken die. These are very small and thin and I believe this aided in the destruction on the die. There was just no strength in it and there is no way this was English steel? I strongly urge you not to buy this set if your serious about its use. Overall, Poor quality and feel. Nasty small Die with no strength what so ever.

Poor quality. Dies were a very sloppy fit in …Poor quality. Dies were a very sloppy fit in the die holder, and the feature for avoiding drunken threads is useless. I would not recommend this set for serious engineering workshop use. However, if you want something to occasionally clean up damaged and gummy threads of differing sizes then this set represents good value.
