Does the jobI have about 20 RyobiBase units and 6 batteries means I’m only charging 6 batteries and not a whole host for each individual device. And they are quite solid. Though not really on a professional level (my drill ended up losing its centre), but then it’s not a professional price. I do however use them quite roughly, and they take it.

Great tool with a better than expected battery life.To start off, i bought this as a bare tool as I have another Ryobi product with a 2ah battery.After reading many reviews mentioning battery life and people using larger 4ah batteries, i had my doubts about whether it would complete the edging of our (roughly 50x20ft) garden.However, i don’t understand these reviews. On the first use, the garden edging was very overgrown. I used the tool for around 45 minutes non-stop and it was still going strong on one charge.Great tool overall. The self adjusting wire can be a bit hit and miss, but very quick and easy to just lengthen it a bit without disassembling anything.

Useful, Robust toolI bought this to replace an existing one (same make & model) that had ceased working after 3 years of pretty heavy usage. The original one was about £10 cheaper but I believe the new one is still good value for money. The strimmer works well and I use it extensively to strim around raised beds and fruit trees on a large plot.

Great strimmer, works with 1.5ah batteriesGreat strimmer, does what you would expect but the adjustable grips make things a tonne more comfortable. Made me glad I didn’t buy the cheaper model without them.Also I had a couple of 1.5ah batteries from my Ryobi drill which are smaller than the recommend 2.5ah (I think). However they last maybe 15 mins each in it which doesn’t seem a lot but your not cutting the whole lawn with a strimmer so does the job fine. Only once I had to swap over part way through and the battery wasn’t full when I started.My advice, don’t get the cheaper one with the non-adjustable grips or you’ll pay for it with lower back pain. And if you have some smaller batteries already then save some money and buy it without batteries as the 1.5s work fine. Whole point of Ryobi is not to have 1 million batteries. And if you’re planning to cut your whole lawn with a strimmer then good luck!

Strim liningBrilliant best strimer I’ve had. I use the 5amp battery and it’s powerful my garden is not a lawn it’s more like wildlife. Thick grass daffodils nettles tree stumps wooden fence garden size length of house 35ft depth. This manages it with ease very easy to set up and replace the spool is simple. To adjust length and position of the head is easy to do and the handle is comfortable for what it is,also can be angled in different positions. Light and easy to use but nicely solid built very capable for heavy domestic use and light usage. Vibrating is very very minimal with no gloves and this is with Ryobi most powerful battery. But if you use the plastic blade brush cutter head which is again easy to swap between the strimer and cutter heads it vibrates like a hammer drill. So wear gloves if using the cutter head on brush cutting duties, but for light and general striming with the strimer head it comes with no vibration. I have issues with my hands due to torn ligaments and age and this strimer is a God send! it is easy to use,set up, light and tough enough to tackle my wildlife garden which also isn’t flat,lumpy as anything.

Make sure you realise this does NOT come with a battery. Great addition to the Ryobi tool collectionPleased with this. It obviously doesn’t come with a battery so can seem quite expensive. However, if you have other Ryobi products you only need the one battery between them all. It was easy to put together and came with strimmer cord ready to go. Quite easy to use. Not too heavy. Haven’t really played with the edge trimmer yet, just the strimmer, which worked well. The cord seemed quite slow to feed through, so I think I just need to finesse how to use it. It’s great to be cordless so you don’t need to worry about the weather or trying not to strim over your cable!

Great productAmazing piece of equipment. The power of this little thing is amazing vs the battery life it uses. Light and extremely easy to use. Used for a medium size lawn. Would recommend to anyone sceptical about battery powered garden equipment.
