Powerful and easy to handle
With this Mountfield hand-propelled lawnmower, make quick work of your garden lawn! Thanks to grooved wheels for optimal traction and a powerful yet fuel-efficient 123cc engine, cutting grass with the HP41 is a walk in the park. The rust-proof polypropylene chassis is lightweight and manoeuvrable; it features a 39cm cutting width and a 40 litre collector for grass clippings, which can be easily removed and emptied. Choose between five different cutting heights, ranging from 25 to 70mm.

For what size garden is this lawnmower suitable?
The cutting width and grass collector make this petrol model ideal for small to medium-sized gardens up to 250 square metres.
What factors influence this mower’s mobility?
This hand-propelled model is highly mobile and, relative to its power, is lightweight. Grooved wheels add additional mobility through their traction.
How do I empty and clean the collection container?
Lift and empty the collector wherever desired. You can then easily rinse the container with water. Allow it to dry before using again.

Good product but quite cheaply manufacturedIts easy to assemble and use but not very robust. Quite a cheap feel about it.

Easy to put together. Started first pullVery easy to put together. I would suggest you use a rubber mallet to carefully drive the two parts of the lower handle into the locating holes in the deck. You can see when the handle has reached the bottom of the holes as there’s a slot at the each side behind the rear wheels. You’re going to need 500ml of lawnmower engine oil as it comes without any. Don’t be tempted to start the mower without first putting the oil in or you will ruin it. Ideally you should use a funnel to put the oil in. I tipped the mower over about 40 degrees so that the oil filler cap was easier to get to.After filling the fuel tank my mower started first pull! You don’t even have to mess about with choke or priming bulbs. Just pull the cord and off she goes. Runs absolutely smoothly with minimum visable emissions. Only did a quick test cut of our small back lawn but it handles easily and seems to give a decent cut. It’s a lot lighter than my old mower which I have passed on to my daughter and son inlaw.

Easier than my last mowerI liked the plastic bed, my last one was aluminium and a bit heavier. liked the absence of a primer, never worked particularly well. not keen on the way the wheels are mounted, steel brackets will probably rust so dollops of WD40 before using. Don’t like how the handles fold, they will wear the coating off in no time so WD40 again. Odd that there’s no oil drain plug, don’t you change the oil, I always changed the oil very year. I might have to make up some sort of suction device to drain the oil. Loads of warnings about not leaving petrol in. I’ve left petrol in over Winter and never had a problem. Let’s see if it lasts as long as my last mower, 22 years. Mind you I’ll be 98 then and past caring!

Insufficient assembly instructions, otherwise goodI bought one, delivered today, as in the previous reviews, the assembly instructions were a joke, very deficient. I googled it and found a youtube video which was very helpful, otherwise I couldn’t have done it. Beside this, every thing went fine. Started from first time, and managed to cut through lawn of 10 inched length. My recommendation is to review instructions, detailed instructions will be helpfull.

Good little mowerFirst off remember to get some oil, as it doesn’t ship with any!Replaced a 20 year old mountfield that finally gave up the ghost. The change to plastic from steel makes it very light and manoeuvrable. Starts very easily and reasonably quite.Quite a small mower and limited grass box so not for bigger lawns. Each wheel is height adjustable which is strange.Happy with it so far.

Excellent value for moneyThis lawnmower is very basic but the upside is it is very lightweight and cost effective. It does not produce a beautiful striped effect but cuts effectively and picks up grass and leaves very well. The motor starts easily and runs well, if slightly noisily. Basically the whole thing does what it says on the box and the really good news is that it is made in Italy not China like all of the others!
