380mm Working WidthThe HYSC1500E grass aerator’s large working width of 380mm (40mm wider than that of competitive models) will get the ground aerated in no time, improving your lawn drainage and grass growth whilst also protecting your lawn from waterlogging and disease. |
Essential Kit For A Healthy LawnDuring scarifying, any compacted soil, as well as moss, thatch and weeds are removed, allowing the lawn to breathe and absorb nourishing substances, oxygen and water. By using the lawn raker option, you remove the dead matter, moss and weed. The rake rotates, aerating and scratching the ground which improves water drainage and the absorption of oxygen. |
5 Working DepthsThis lawn aerator’s 5 adjustable scarifying heights ranging from -12mm to +10mm, simply controlled from one adjustment lever, put you in control over the finish of your lawn and ensure that all moss, thatch and weeds are removed from the root. |
Large Collection BagWith its spacious 45L grass collector box (nearly twice the size of competitive models) collecting weeds and moss as you go, it means no mess to clear up, getting the job done as quickly as possible. |

Want to mark this as 5 star and nearly left review sooner but…I have to admit I was slightly hesitant when I purchased this as I had read a lot of negative reviews. I tend to home in on negative reviews and it is usually quite clear whether to take them with a pinch of salt.Product arrived promptly and was easy to assemble.Had the product about 4 weeks now and only today has it failed (when used by my partner!!!)I realised that most people (men) probably don’t read the instructions because we are expected to ‘know everything’ and perhaps there is an element of ego involved in the process of buying and using a new unfamiliar product. However, I must be the exception as I invariably always read instructions.I imagine most people that have seen their unit fail within 20-30 minutes of first use have simply ‘gone at it’ on the harshest setting and not trimmed their lawn down to a sensible height of cut.So why the 3 stars for a unit that has ultimately failed? Every time I have used it, it has been without issue. My missus must be a bloke as she never listens and has gone to finish off the last portion of the lawn (yes it has taken 4 weeks on and off) on the lowest setting and I think that is what has caused unnecessary stress on the motor. She did look a bit cack-handed using it whereas I caressed through the process on the occasions I used it.Of course, I am mortified that it has died either way but I just feel it would still be alive today if I had been the last one to use it.A few reviewers proclaimed that they would use the less powerful model but I cannot see how that would be any better. In truth, this unit is probably fine for very small and lawns that are already well tended by someone but we needed to strip back to basics after leaving the lawn to overgrown for a couple of years. I first started by using our brushcutter to get the lawn right down in height (maybe 25mm high). There are clearly units out there which are much more robust but you would pay a pretty penny. I hate to say it but you get what you pay for and you shouldn’t really have to rely on the user taking care not to overload the machine. It’s probably a design fault in the motor size or maybe a bad batch of units. Who knows? It worked for a good while. Had I have left a review after first or second use which I intended to, it would have been a 5 star. Today it is a 1 star review. Inevitably, I have reviewed it midway on the basis of my overall experience over this last 4 weeks. Right up until today, it would have been a 5 star.Just hope my missus doesn’t read this review and give me a telling off for ‘laying the blame at her door’.

This machine is a beast!I bought this to replace a smaller one of a different make that had burnt out. It’s a real beast, effortlessly scarifying my medium sized lawn in a fraction of the time it used to take. I’ve only used the shallowest setting so far, but it did a great job of removing bucket loads of thatch. The waste collection system is fairly good, better than any I’ve had on previous machines, although you do have to empty it very frequently because it removes so much thatch. I’d have probably liked a couple of extra tines on this wide machine, but the power is awesome!

An excellent machineHave used both the rake and the scarifier blades withe excellent results.(It’s simple the change from one to the other with the tool provided)Delivered in robust packaging, and assembly is simple and straightforward.Cleaning after use is easy but remove the blades first.

Keep the box! What a great bit of kit. Did a brilliant job of scarifying my small lawn for about 20 minutes. Sadly it then stopped working!I notice that other customers have had a similar problem. Bound to get the odd faulty component I suppose. Shame really. It’s no longer available or I would have bought a replacement.Amazon sorting the return for me.

Easy to use and very effectiveI’ve previously hired a petrol scarifier, which was heavy, hard to manoeuvre and tended to dig into the lawn. The next time I had a well-known lawn care company look after my lawn for a year and they made a real mess of it with their scarifier. Today I used this for the first time on the rear lawn. I used it on level 2 (out of 5) and the effect was amazing. Attached photo shows before and after.I chose this Hyundai because the collection box was twice the size of the Von Haus one. It could have done with being a lot larger still as I was stopping to empty it every 4-6 yards.A note on what this machine is for: it’s a scarifier for removing accumulated thatch and moss. It’s not a lawn aerator, which makes 4 inch long holes in the lawn to provide air to the roots and loosen compacted soil.

Getting stuck in.Powerful machine and well made for the occasional gardener. Just be aware of all the debris created. Reasonably easy to put away and to assemble, but one must have a enough storage space. A certain raciness about the look and design of this dual purpose machine and not too heavy to handle.

Great product at a great priceEase of use simple to build and very speedy. Just ensure your green bin is empty as the amount of thatch is astonishing.
