Modern Day ScytheOur Old Strimmer was built for Lilliputians from Gulliver’s travels – if I pick it up and stand up straight (I’m 5ft9) then the cutting head is nowhere near the grass to be strimmed! I have to bend over and be in a horrible position to use it. I also remember it making a high pitch screaming sound that felt as if it could make my ears bleed.This UniversalGrassCut however is brilliant. The unit comes pretty much prebuilt – all you need to do is attach the guard that stops you accidently cutting your own toenails and also the wheel that acts as a guard against strimming plants you don’t want to. Anything at wheel length or further doesn’t get cut and anything closer than wheel length will get cut.When the head is flipped 90degrees using the foot pedal that I push with my hand, the wheel can be used to trundle the cutter along the floor for edging. The wheel does seem a bit fragile and so you don’t exactly want to be bashing it around otherwise it’ll break.I’m using the 4Ah battery from the Citymower and although it adds about 630grams to the 2.7kg, the unit is balanced in a way that you don’t really notice.The noise is still quite loud but lower in tone meaning it hasn’t got that ear bleeding high pitch scream of the old strimmer.As with all strimmers it’s important to wear eye protection as there’s a fast moving bit of wire doing the cutting work and it will fling debris everywhere – even more so with the head at the 90degree angle for edging.The unit can be stored compacted down and then opened up and extended when required. I’ve noticed that the longest setting tends not to lock properly and so it will suddenly click back to a slightly shorter length.The actual cutting movement is really good and natural feeling. It’s like a modern day scythe with two handles in ergonomic positions and cuts through a wide range of grass and plant sizes. from usual smallish to very tall and dense. It’s also been able to clear the annoying plants growing between paving stones.I’m really pleased with the UniversalGrassCut because my dypraxia means my balance and coordination isn’t always too good and with this trimmer its possible to stand up normally (not in old style crooked old man) and wave it around in the appropriate direction.I’ve practically strimmed everything and anything in sight….!

Good for light jobs, but underpowered for anything toughI first bought the Bosch hedge trimmer with this battery (which is excellent) so buying the strimmer with the same battery made sense. It’s fine – the cord feed works well and it’s not eating the plastic cord (which others do) and it lasts a good while on one battery charge. It’s just a little underpowered. Fine for light tidying up but when I left some no-mow May knee length grass it really struggled. Basically, for tough stuff I think you’d need a petrol one.

Really Light weightI really like this Trimmer and it works well for what I need it to do, which is trim around my allotment.It packs a surprising amount of punch and can cut through brambles and doc weeds, though taking some time and using up the trimming line. It is not a brush cutter, but it does not pretend to be one. The reason I have given 4 Stars and not 5 is that I would have preferred a heavier battery with a longer battery life, but I could always buy a second battery. Charging is quick and easy. I seem to get just under an hour’s charge with moderate use.

Good looking machine with some great featuresThis strimmer seems to be the business with extendable body and a host of other features. Have not been able to use it yet due to weather but all seems good. My only complaint is trying to register for the three year warranty. We cannot find the registration number on the strimmer and Bosch have not yet replied to our emails (now 6) asking to reset our password. Shame.

Nice change to an old petrol oneI got this about a month ago and have used it a few times since then. I wanted to leave it until I’d used it a bit.I bought it to replace a very old and very dirty 2 stroke petrol strimmer and so far it’s doing a great job. I was a bit concerned that it wouldn’t be powerful enough for what I wanted or the battery life would be too short, but so far it’s all good.The battery lasts about 20 minutes, so if that’s a problem then you’ll need to get a second battery. I expect that I will with time.It’s much lighter and more comfortable to use than the petrol one and seems to get the job done in about the same time. Its also very convenient as it doesn’t involve the usual hassle 9f finding the petrol can, realising its empty, looking for 2 stroke oil, and then spending15 minutes swearing whilst trying to get it started..As long as you remembered to leave the battery on charge, its available instantly. Its much quieter and doesn’t vibrate as much. An added bonus is that it creates less mess as it doesn’t splatter you with mushed up grass as much.All in all I’m very happy with it. It could do with being about 4 nches longer, but then couldn’t we all ?

Cuts nicely with surprisingly good battery lifeStrimmer cuts normal grass fine. Struggles a bit on coarser grass.Was worried about how long the battery would last as its tiny… but easily lasts 20 mins or so. Perfect for my needs.Bit confused with the edging wheel which is so big it sticks out further than the cutter, so had to remove it to be able to do any edging.Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but the instructions are typically “Bosch-poor”. A handful of diagrams with no text, to try to interpret.

Ergomischer Rasentrimmer mit AkkubetriebDa haben die Ingenieure von Bosch ganze Arbeit geleistet.Dieser Rasentrimmer ist besser als vermutet.Das Gerät ist ausbalanciert und wird über den Unterarm kompensiert (SUPER)Höhenverstellbar und ruckzuck im Betrieb.Zum Test 400 Meter in 20 Minuten. Echter Wow Effekt.Der Akku war nur halb leer. SuperNach 4 Monaten hat sich die Rolle im Betrieb verabschiedet. Die Amazonreparaturhotline verweigert den 1:1 Austausch und lässt mich als Prime Kunden 20 Minuten in der Warteschleife hängen :-((Man verlangt die Rücksendung des Gerätes zur Reparatur?… Ohne Karton ? Den sollte ich 2 Jahre aufheben…. Kein Witz. – – –

Wenn Bosch für das eigene Gerät Ersatzteile liefern würde, wäre es ganz in OrdnungVielen positiven Rezensionen kann ich mich nur anschließen.Das Gerät ist durch seine Handgriffe sehr ergonomisch zu bedienen. Die Schnittleistung ist gut und präzise, aus den Akkus wird eine gute Laufleistung herausgeholt.Sehr positiv ist, dass vorhandene Akkus für das Gerät genutzt werden können, so dass in meinem Fall für Akkus keine Zusatzkosten auftraten.Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen ist das kleine Rädchen (Abstandshalter) welches bereits bei erster Verwendung abbrach und meiner Meinung nach eine Fehlkonstruktion darstellt. Nicht schlimm, da ich es nicht benötige.Mein Hauptkritikpunkt ist aber die mangelnde Ersatzteilversorgung seitens BOSCH! Das man das kleine Rädchen nicht nachkaufen konnte ist zu verschmerzen, da ich es wie gesagt nicht vermisse.ABER! Die Spulenabdeckung für den Schneidfaden ist ein Verschleißteil, welches früher oder später kaputtgeht. Nicht nur ist das Ersatzteil mit fast 15 Euro plus Versand meiner Meinung nach hoffnungslos überbezahlt, es ist jetzt seit über einem halben Jahr (6 Monate !!!) nicht lieferbar !!Seit Frühjahr 2021 kann ich meinen 2019 gekauften Rasentrimmer nicht mehr benutzen. Wann/ob das Teil seitens BOSCH irgendwann einmal wieder lieferbar ist, steht in den Sternen. Seitens BOSCH habe ich auf meine Anfragen keine Antwort erhalten.Es kann nicht sein, dass man so ein Gerät nach zweimaliger Gartensaison praktisch wegwerfen kann, weil ein kleines Plastikteil, welches Herstellungskosten vermutlich im einstelligen Centbereich habern dürfte, seit Monaten nicht lieferbar ist. Nachhaltigkeit sieht meiner Ansicht nach anders aus.Derzeit behelfe ich mir mit einem Gerät der Konkurenz, welches zwar leider ein Stromkabel benötigt, für das aber bei Bedarf wenigstens Ersatzteile lieferbar sind.UPDATE Oktober 2021: Nach wie vor ist kein Ersatzteil seitens BOSCH lieferbar. Es wird lapidar auf einen “Rückstand” verwiesen….UPDATE November 2021: Weiterhin kein Ersatzteil zu bekommen. BOSCH antwortet schon nicht mehr auf Anfragen. Dafür habe ich dieses nicht ganz billige Werkzeug gekauft? Inzwischen habe ich zusätzlich ein Konkurrenzprodukt gekauft, um im Garten überhaupt mal weiterzukommen.SEHR ENTTÄUSCHEND DAS GANZE !!! 🙁
