Well built itemChain needs tensioned constantly so much so that unless you do this every five minutes it will come off the bar which it did twice while I was operating it .You spend too much time retentioning the chain. I will see how it performs. If I cant resolve the issue of constantly tensioning the blade every five minutes I will be returning item .

for quick and easy to use this is a good choice. All these types of things fail at some stage but if you look after it and don’t force it when cutting, you may get some good mileage out of it, the instructions were way out of date as what you get is not what is in the instructions, at first I thought there was a part missing and sent the first one back, not knowing that the part had completely changed. always top up with oil. do not run it without, and check the chain tension every so often as it will come loose when in use. which is its biggest failing.

Good for the moneyI have never owned or used a chainsaw before so nothing to compare it with but I needed to remove a dead tree in the garden and reduce it to convenient logs for our log burner. So I didn’t want to spend a lot and a corded saw would be fine. As usual the assembly instructions are in pictures, a little confusing at first but sorted it out without too much difficulty and there are some written instructions too. I watched a couple of youtube videos on how to use a chainsaw because I know they are potentially lethal, one video particularly helpful. I have now done the job and the saw has performed admirably. You will need to purchase some chainsaw oil which is not provided with the saw.

Ideal tool for the garden with treesLittle bit fiddley at first getting the chain rite but once sorted brilliant cuts through the conifer trees like butter managed to cut 12ft off them so a bargain when you think the prices quoted to cut them off companies

It is easy to handle and appears to be safe in operation …This is a gutsy saw which cut through a 7 1/2 inch trunk in 20 seconds and a 12 1/2 inch trunk in 42 seconds. It is easy to handle and appears to be safe in operation as the chain stops immediately one releases the trigger (even though the motor runs on a bit, it is at that point not connected to the chain). The separate assembly instructions were terrible, best to ignore them and use intuition. After I assembled the saw, I noticed in the main instruction manual that one is supposed to soak the chain in oil prior to assembly. It was too late by then so I just drizzled oil over the chain. The saw was also effective in rip mode, cutting with the grain rather than the usual mode of cross cutting. However in rip mode the chips produced are different, being much longer slivers of timber rather than the usual small chips. These slivers got caught up in the chain drive sprocket and needed to be cleared out. I do have a concern with the saw being an ex-user of a petrol chainsaw, that is that the amount of chain oil it uses is tiny, about a teaspoonful in half an hour. A petrol chainsaw would use about half a cupful in that time. I am concerned that the chain is seriously under-lubricated. Only time will tell and I have not had the saw long enough to know. Summarizing, powerful, effective and easy to use, on the negative side, unusable assembly instructions and concern about chain lubrication. Attached is a picture of a trunk the chainsaw cut up into logs with great ease and efficiency.

Without reservation…Buy this chainsaw!Having just returned from Australia where I was using two Stihl petrol chainsaws for some fairly serious work, I was astounded to find just how good this electric one was.Two 10m high and very broad conifers needed to come down in a very confined space in my ‘renovation’ garden. The base of the trunks were about 45cm diameter. You will see from the pictures just how much cutting was involved, and they do not show all the timber. I was quoted a considerable sum to remove the trees so invested in this unit, based on reviews and internet research, choosing electric over petrol simply because of the cleanliness and noise issue, being in a built-up area.Assembly of the chain bar and chain to the body was quick and simple.Compared with a petrol-powered unit, it is not as fast, but cut through heavy timber with real ease and complete confidence, including full blade cuts across the bases of the trunks once the tree was down. It is very close to the same weight as a comparable Stihl petrol unit, and comfortable in useEven after both trees were down and the trunks cut to manageable lengths, there was no sign of slowing down or the chain needing sharpening. For this long task, the oil use was about one full tank. The chain did need the usual early adjustment as it settled in, but no more than expected.I have been very impressed by the power, capability and apparent build quality of this Black and Decker unit. I can recommend it with confidence, based on my experience thus far.NB I paid full price for this item, have not received reward in any form for writing this review, and have no connection whatsoever with the manufacturer or seller.

Simple to use, plenty of cutting powerThose is a great chainsaw for domestic use. Having previously used a petrol chainsaw this is so much less hassle, and will never go back to petrol saws again.Chain was a bit difficult to fit initially, instructions aren’t that great but not enough to be a significant problem.Once the chain was fitted and oil added you are ready to go. Simple to use, stops immediately when finished cutting, adding the right tension to the chain incredibly easy and visible oil level hugely helpful as it does use more than you think, although not too much to be a problem.I used it to cut through 20 or 30 large sections of tree trunk up to 35 cm diameter, including yew which is hard wood and it did it with ease, plenty of power without the fuss of a petrol saw. Would recommend using a log stand if doing that much, less strain all round, filled my log store in no time.Overall, a great product

Suitable for even a dummy like me!I’ve never used a chainsaw before and taking sensible precautions I found it easy and straightforward to use. This is a great piece of kit and safe as long as you follow the included guidelines. I soaked the chain in oil for over 24 hours before installing onto the bar. It’s a bit fiddly fitting the chain around the groove on the bar and over the drive sprocket but once you’ve done it a few times it becomes easier. In use the one things I found you need to watch out for is not to snag the cable and the bar when cutting a long thick branch. Also a sawhorse is virtually essential for sawing logs to a small length. Highly recommended.

The heaviest chainsaw I’ve usedEasy to set up and a good size but the weight is putting me off. I’m sure I won’t need the gym after using this chainsaw, it’s surprisingly heavy

Satisfied customerMy very positive review on this product was rejected because it “violated conditions”. No specific explanation as to why. I was the purchaser. I said that my son in law had borrowed it, though I used a jokey word; and likes it so much he doesn’t want to give it back! All good things I would have said.
