My review of the Karcher K4 Full Control pressure washer

Some of you may have read one of my previous posts where I reviewed a petrol pressure jet washer and although very powerful, it just wasn’t cut out for the job when providing a Jetwashing service for my customers as the reliability was poor, lasting just a couple of hours.

It’s important to know that the petrol jet wash, at 200BAR of pressure (when working) was incredible, removing any black spots (lichen) that got in the way. So how does the electric 240V Karcher K4 compare? At the very least, will it be more reliable?

My first impressions of the Karcher Full Control K4 Pressure Jet Washer

Those who read my blogs will know that I don’t offer a jet washing service to my customers very often, and just have a pressure jet washer to hand should a customer ask for it as an additional service. Therefore it’s not worth me investing in hugely expensive equipment and at £169.99 with 3 years warranty, I just couldn’t resist! As well as this, it boasts;

  • 1.8kW Water-Cooled Induction Motor
  • 420Ltr/hr Max. Flow Rate
  • 6m High Pressure Hose & Trigger Gun
  • Auto Stop / Start
  • Vario & Dirt Blaster Nozzles
  • Water Inlet Filter
  • On-Board Accessory Storage
  • 3 Year Manufacturer’s Guarantee (T&Cs Apply)
  • Telescopic Aluminium Handle

When I first took the box from over the counter, I’ll be honest, I was a little disappointed as I thought it looked a little small, and worried how small the Karcher K4 Pressure Washer may be. But once out and all put together, it transformed into a beautiful machine! A friend of mine has a Karcher K5 (the model up), and honestly I couldn’t tell the difference!

Once plugged in and set up (nice and easy), the LED display on the gun immediately caught my eye! It lets you know which power setting you have it on and actually looks very impressive! This reason alone made it money well spent, but to be honest I was just happy to have an electric pressure washer ready to use instead of a petrol one! Not that all petrol ones are bad of course, but given my experience, it just felt right!

My thoughts of the Karcher K4 Full Control pressure washer when in use

Remembering that this is a domestic pressure jet washer, it performs amazingly when using it on my customer’s patios, decking and brick walls. Compared to smaller jet washes, like the Karcher K1, it’s on another level. I’ll be honest, out of the attachments that you get with it, I only use the dirt blaster which I find works best, especially when jet washing block paving as it literally rips the weeds out. Of course, it’s not as powerful as a petrol pressure washer, but it’s certainly not powerless by any means, and provides peace of mind with the reliability of an electric Karcher Pressure Washer. I’ve now owned this Karcher K4 for 6 months and have easily had more than 50 hours use out of it and it’s still going strong. The only thing that I have had to replace is the dirt blaster attachment for the gun, which I had a spare for anyway from a previous, smaller Karcher jet washer (smaller machine, but same attachments). That being said, it’s a domestic machine, being used for 8 hours straight when using it for my garden business so I expected inexpensive attachments to go wrong.

More importantly for me, it looks the part. It has wheels to help with maneuverability as well as a handle for hard to drag places. It even has a net on the back to keep additional attachments. It’s not broken down on me yet, but when that day comes I will be purchasing a Karcher Xpert. Not because the Karcher K4 Full Control pressure washer isn’t good enough, but because more is never enough! This, and it will give me the opportunity to compare the 2 and share with you!

My overall thoughts on this Karcher K4 full control pressure jet washer are that it’s very well built, sturdy and looks great. I believe that the K5 is the largest pressure washer that Karcher offer in the domestic range, with this being the one below, but this does the job great for what I need it for and glad that I went for the K4! Below is an example of a before and after of a job that I completed with the Karcher K4.
