With so many of us using iPhones in this modern age, we find ourselves continuously using our smart phones throughout the day. From browsing the internet to downloading apps, from playing games to watching YouTube or Netflix, we all use our phones for different things, but the one thing that most of us have in common is that all of these things require a connectivity. Whether that be a WiFi or cellular connectivity, it’s what let’s us have access to the outside world through our iPhones.
So how do I test the data speed on my iPhone?
So what happens if you experience slow data speeds on your iPhone? The first thing that we want to do is get to the bottom of this and test the upload and download speed. To do this, go to the App Store and enter ‘Speed test’ into the search bar. There will be a number of free apps available, including ‘Speedtest by Ookla’ which has been tested by myself. You will need to download one of these free apps. When you run the app, you will be able to choose your server (depending on which connection you are needing to test)
It will only take approximately 10-15 seconds to receive your download and upload speeds, you should write these down.
After you have done this, go into your ‘settings’, select ‘general’, go to ‘reset’ and finally hit ‘reset network settings’. This will erase all of your connectivity information, and will require you to log into your WiFi network again. Once your phone’s connectivity settings and preferences are set up again, you will need to test the data speeds again on your iPhone using the app, making note of the new download and upload speeds. Hopefully you will see an improvement from the first test to the second!
Although this advice includes instructions for iPhone users, the same apps and process should work on other smart phones. Good luck!
